Terms and Conditions

1. About us and these terms

Your Story Begins is operated by Marlon Cannon, a sole trader trading as Your Story Begins. For business correspondence and customer enquiries, contact hello@yourstorybegins.shop. These terms govern orders placed with Your Story Begins for personalised printed books.

2. Starting and accepting an order

The customer chooses a package, submits a story order and completes payment on a secure Stripe-hosted checkout page. Placing an order is an offer to buy. Stripe provides the payment receipt, but the contract is accepted only when we have manually matched and reviewed the order and sent an acceptance email. If we cannot accept the order, we will explain why and refund the payment.

3. Confirmed order brief

The customer is responsible for checking names, spelling, relationships, requested themes and other factual details submitted with the order. Text-story production begins after payment and our acceptance of the order. Full illustration or print production begins only when the corresponding illustrated or printed package has been purchased and the manuscript details have been confirmed.

4. Personalised creative work

Every story is an original creative interpretation of the confirmed brief. Exact visual or narrative outcomes cannot be guaranteed from a general idea, written description or creative reference. Our team creates, checks and prepares the finished work for print without sending a separate version for customer checking. Open-ended creative rewrites are not included unless they are specifically listed in the purchased package.

5. Customer materials and permissions

The customer confirms that they have the right and authority to provide all names, descriptions, photographs and other materials supplied for the order. Where a photograph shows a child, the customer confirms that they are the parent or guardian or otherwise authorised to submit it. Materials must not infringe another person's rights or request unlawful, harmful or abusive content.

6. Prices and payment

Prices are displayed and charged in pounds sterling and the total payable is shown before the customer confirms payment. Marlon Cannon trading as Your Story Begins is not currently registered for VAT. The printed-book prices are £30.99 for the softback edition and £42.99 for the premium hardback edition, with free UK shipping included. Automatic tax calculation is not enabled. Your Story Begins does not receive or store full card details.

7. Intellectual property and permitted use

Unless agreed otherwise in writing, the delivered story and illustrations are licensed to the customer for personal, non-commercial use. The customer may keep, print and privately share their purchased work. Commercial publication, resale, advertising, merchandise use or removal of third-party rights notices requires a separate written agreement. The customer retains ownership of materials they supplied.

8. Cancellation and personalised goods

Please contact hello@yourstorybegins.shop immediately if you wish to cancel. Clearly personalised physical goods are excluded from the normal change-of-mind cancellation right. We may nevertheless agree to stop and refund work that has not begun.

Starting your personalised story: by accepting these Terms and Conditions at checkout, you expressly ask us to begin creative work immediately, during the 14-day cancellation period. If you cancel an eligible service before it is complete, you may be required to pay for work already completed.

These rules do not affect your statutory rights where goods or services are faulty, not as described or not provided with reasonable care and skill.

9. Delivery, order issues and complaints

Delivery arrangements and remedies for order issues are set out on the Delivery and Order Issues page. We confirm the production timetable and, for printed products, the supported delivery address by email. Unless another timeframe is expressly agreed, goods will be delivered within 30 days of contract acceptance. Complaints should be sent to hello@yourstorybegins.shop with the order reference and supporting details.

10. Liability and governing law

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability where doing so would be unlawful, or reduces a customer's statutory consumer rights. These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Customers may also have mandatory rights to bring proceedings in the part of the United Kingdom where they live.
